Tips for landing a remote role from Jordan
- Check the location fine print first. Read the location line: “EMEA”, “international” or “work from anywhere” usually covers Jordan, but “Remote – US” or “EU right to work” doesn’t. If in doubt, ask the recruiter before you invest hours in an application.
- Show you’re easy to work with across time zones. Amman is on GMT+3 all year, which overlaps well with Europe, the Gulf and Africa and gives you a few morning hours with US East Coast teams. Say exactly which hours you can cover in your cover letter.
- Understand how you’ll be hired. Many global companies hire people in Jordan as independent contractors or through an Employer of Record (EOR). Ask early about contract type, paid leave, equipment and health cover, and compare offers on total value rather than salary alone.
- Plan for getting paid and for tax. Clarify the currency (usually USD) and how you’ll be paid: bank transfer, Payoneer, Wise or an EOR payroll. Keep invoices and contracts organised, and check your obligations with a Jordanian tax adviser.
- Prove your home office is ready. Mention a reliable fibre connection, a backup (4G/5G hotspot or UPS) and a quiet workspace. For UN consultancies, have your financial proposal and work samples ready, since many close within days.
- Write async-first applications. Remote hiring managers screen for clear writing. Use short, outcome-led bullet points, link to a portfolio or case study, and record a short Loom-style video intro if the application allows it.
